Four and Five year olds

Welcome to your child's classroom ...
We believe that all children are thinkers, researchers, and problem solvers.  Our program revolves around the valuing of relationships, open dialogue and collaboration, which we believe supports the development of strong relationships between members of this community-children, parents, and educators-& the communities beyond these walls.

4 to 5 years old are ready for so much more…

  • Work in groups
  • Engage in long & short term projects
  • Negotiate a conflict
  • Listen to different points of view
  • Understand the meaning of the written word
  • Exhibit self control
  • Independent
  • Ask questions & find answers
  • ABC’s & 1,2,3’s

Children of this age group are keenly aware of the world around them.  They need activities that engage their minds fully in quest for knowledge, understanding and skill.  We believe children should be engaged in projects in which all aspects of children’s minds can be engaged, challenged, and enriched. We are fully committed to preparing children for kindergarten and beyond.  Developing the whole child is a major focus.

We continue to focus on the individual within the group setting.  The focus of relationships allows for us to personalize the meaning for learning for each individual as well as functioning successfully as a member of the group.  Self confidence and self esteem blossoms as each child expresses

their knowledge of the subject matter.

Our professionally trained staff creates learning opportunities that supports the uniqueness of each child’s development while working in small and large groups.

Children are taught a variety of ways to express themselves and to share what they’ve learned. We believe in teaching children how to learn-how to ask questions, seek answers, and attach meaning to their discoveries.  Using a variety of resources including community experts and parents offers children a rich learning experience.  We work hard to develop and plan experiences for critical and deep thinking.

Our rich environment and community support many ways in which children learn.  Each day the children have the opportunity to engage in:

  • reading & writing
  • music & art
  • block building & dramatic play
  • science
  • large motor activities
  • outside community walks and play

At Happy Time, we focus on relationships with children, families and staff and provide:

  • Nurturing and loving attention
  • Respectful and consistent schedule for eating, sleeping and playing
  • Safe and rich environment to grow and learn in
  • Daily communication
  • Open door policy
