Infancy - 6 weeks - 15 months

Welcome to your child's first classroom ...  We believe that all children are curious thinkers, skilled researchers, and successful problem solvers, including our infants.  At Happy Time, we honor the relationship between all members of our community-children, parents, and educators-and welcome open dialogue and collaboration to give children a jump start on life.

Our professionally trained infant staff understands this very important time in infant development.  Recent research on brain development confirms that secure relationships in an infant’s life contribute to overall healthy development.  Throughout the day, each infant receives attention and affection, reassurance and guidance from our loving staff.

Our environment is specially designed for infants to freely explore and take pleasure in their emerging interests and skills.  All of the toys and activities are thoughtfully planned to encourage growth of the whole child.  Knowing that language develops at a rapid pace at this stage of development, the staff communicates respectfully with the infants by using words, reading books, singing songs, and using sign language.

Partnering with parents is paramount.  We respect that the parent is the child’s first teacher and must be included in all decisions about the child’s growth and development.  Parents receive daily communication from the infant staff, both in writing and in person, about how the day unfolded for their baby and other developmental issues.

At Happy Time, we focus on relationships with children, families and staff and provide

  • Nurturing and loving attention
  • Respectful and consistent schedule for eating, sleeping and playing
  • Safe and rich environment to grow and learn in
  • Daily communication
  • Open door policy
